About me
Karla Reed is in her 31st year at Winchester Community High School, where she proudly serves as principal. Having spent virtually her entire career at WCHS, she is deeply committed to creating opportunities that help students discover their passions, achieve their goals, and prepare for successful futures.
Karla began her career as a special education teacher, developing a strong foundation in meeting the diverse needs of learners and building meaningful relationships with students and families. She later served as assistant principal before becoming principal, where she has focused on fostering a positive school culture, expanding student opportunities, and developing innovative pathways that connect education with college and career success.
Under Karla’s leadership, Winchester Community High School earned endorsement as an Early College High School, providing students with increased access to postsecondary credentials and career-ready experiences.
Karla and her team mentor other schools across Indiana through the P-CAP and RECN networks. She is actively involved with the Carnegie Foundation’s Futures of High Schools initiative and is a founding principal of RAZ-32, a collaborative effort among rural Indiana schools focused on expanding opportunities for students.
Karla remains passionate about helping every student find their path, reach their full potential, and graduate prepared to thrive outside the school walls.
